…it does not surprise me that I have not created a blog post since April 15th. Not one bit. Ha!
On one hand, I have been busy: I have accepted a new role at work, and I have been assisting with this role in an interim position since January. I’m excited to fully launch into it come the week after July 4th! That being said, doing that interim position in tandem with my current position has left me way too tired to think of anything on the recipe development or content creation side of things.
On the other hand, I feel I have been struggling with inspiration. Many of my fellow food bloggers and content creators know exactly what I’m talking about, and I feel I know many of us that have been feeling a drag these past few months.
For me, my lack of inspiration comes from the lack of focus. Many of my closest blogger friends here in NYC have a focus, have a niche. For example, one friend focuses on cocktails. Another friend focuses on Indian and Indian-inspired dishes. Yet another friend focuses on food and lifestyle from Black creators and Harlemites.
As for me? When I first launched this website in 2016, I just wanted to post recipes, but with no focus. I had an idea what I wanted my focus to be in the beginning, but I never quite followed through with that on the whole. I can, however, give you an example of what I want that focus to be, and it sits within my recipe for single-serve Shakshuka, which also happens to be my most popular recipe ever! So what will my focus me on? Single-serve and small batch meals? Recipes that feature eggs? Recipes that feature tomatoes? Recipes that can put anything into a cute little ramekin?
Well, over the next few months, I think my focus will become clearer to you, my viewers, and I am very excited to stick to that focus within in this blog. My idea isn’t the most original – it’s been done by many – but it’s something I’ve toyed with over the years, and I think it’s time to take that leap and STICK to it. I am excited to see what will come of this.
In the meantime, stay cool, stay awesome, and Happy (almost!) Summer, y’all! ✌️
